EST. 1902

Mrs. P & Me has been a Mount Prospect gathering place for more than a century.

The building at 100 E. Prospect Avenue first opened in 1902 as Behren’s Saloon, serving locals, farmers, and travelers passing through the growing railroad town. During Prohibition it briefly operated as a lunch counter before returning to its tavern roots after alcohol sales resumed, becoming the well-known Kruse’s Tavern and a longtime community meeting spot.

In 1977, the restaurant was renamed Mrs. P & Me, inspired by owner Dennis Miller’s hometown of Pittsburgh. While the concept evolved, much of the building’s historic character remained, including the classic wooden bar and walls filled with Mount Prospect memorabilia that reflect its deep connection to the community.

Today, Mrs. P & Me continues the tradition with a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere, hearty food, and its well-known ribs, along with beer, wine, and cocktails.

More than 120 years after the first saloon opened, it remains a place where locals gather to eat, drink, and connect.
